Update your kitchen

If you want to update your kitchen but your budget does not allow for a full renovation, updating your countertops is and affordable way to make a big difference, without hurting your pocket book.  Depending on the material you choose and the size of your kitchen will determine the final cost.  It can be as little as a few hundred  to several thousand dollars.  Common countertop materials are laminate, solid surface, quartz, granite and concrete.
Laminate countertops                   $
Plastic laminate countertops rank as the least expensive material.  There are many color and texture options available.
Solid Surface countertops            $$
This style of countertop is more expensive then a laminate top, but is much less than a natural stone top.  This non porous material is resistant to heat, stains, and mold. The colors vary but are more uniform then a natural stone product and are smooth in texture.
Granite countertops                       $$$
Natural stone countertops are expensive, and depends on what region it was quarried for the associated cost.  Granite is available in a range of colors and patterns, and comes in 2 thicknesses, 2 cm and 3 cm.  It is a very durable material, but it is porous, it will stain and it will scratch.  Granite requires to be sealed every few years, to reduce the chance of staining.
